Cooking the eggs... on the barbecue!

Hard, soft, poached, fried, boiled, scrambled, omelette... Eggs can be prepared in a thousand and one ways and you've already explored many of them. But as a barbecue lover, have you tried cooking them on your Kokko? Did you ask for grilled eggs? We'll show you how to make them!

A few precautions before cooking the eggs...

Before rushing headlong and rolling the eggs on your barbecue grill, make sure they are at the right temperature. An egg just out of the refrigerator placed in less than two minutes above the embers could crack immediately. The same goes for very fresh eggs, they will be more fragile when cooked. Wait a few days after the laying date to cook them on the barbecue.

How to barbecue eggs?

As cooked in water, the barbecue allows different types of cooking of eggs. On the other hand, to prevent them from breaking once they are placed on the grill, make sure you have few embers so that the fire is really low. You can also move the embers to one side of the barbecue and place the eggs on the other side of the grill for indirect cooking.

To obtain soft-boiled eggs, cook for 6 minutes, between 8 and 10 minutes if you want them soft depending on whether you like the yolk more or less runny, and then leave them to brown for 12 minutes to harden. The eggs are to be disposed whole, with their shells and during all the cooking, the lid of the Kokko must be closed. If you want to enhance their grilled taste, after cooking them to your liking and peeling them, you can put them back on the barbecue for a quick back and forth on each side. Use tongs to cook your eggs without burning yourself: catching an egg rolling on the grill with your bare hands by reflex can be very dangerous! So, before you start, remember to check all the safety standards that are essential for a successful barbecue.

Little tip: to stop the cooking of the eggs, and manage to peel them easily, plunge them into cold water as soon as they come out of the barbecue.

How about smoking eggs on the BBQ?

As you know, nothing could be simpler than with Kokko to give an original taste to your food and as much to say that eggs are the perfect candidates for smoking! It's the opportunity to have fun with the choice of sawdust and herbs to flavour them and give them an original taste. Before smoking them, cook them to obtain eggs that are just soft and can be hulled without damaging them. This rather fragile product will have to be smoked cold. The eggs should become lightly coloured after about fifteen minutes, which is a sign that the smoke is starting to perfume them! With what to go with them?

If eggs can be accompanied in many ways, boiled, it is without a doubt with a slice of toasted bread - on the barbecue of course - then buttered that they should be married!
