The 6 commandments to ensure a long life for your Kokko
A healthy Kokko, it's a healthy Kokko, it's a healthy Kokko! Even if they are resistant, if you adopt good habits, these ceramic barbecues will last over time and will stay (almost) as good as new. Discover our 6 commandments.
1. After each barbecue, I will empty the ashes to let the air circulate well.
To avoid clogging my Kokko, I will then make sure to choose a good quality charcoal. To guide you in your choice, discover the essential criteria to choose it well.
2. I will make sure before each barbecue that the cast iron plate is not clogged with ashes and I will regularly run it through the water.
3. The grills I will clean before putting anything in the oven.
Besides maintenance, it is also a question of hygiene. Nothing could be simpler, just pass a special brush or steel wool and rub the grid to remove impurities. You can also heat it under the flames before brushing it by closing the lid of the Kokko to help the pieces of food that would be stuck to it to come off more easily.
Then remove the grid from the Kokko and wait for it to cool down a bit before rubbing it and of course, put on a glove before you get to work on it. Accidents, especially burns, are common if certain safety rules are not followed. Take stock of the situation to make sure that you are taking no risks. For a more thorough cleaning, you can also use a special product such as our stainless steel grid cleaner.
4. The inside of my Kokko I will brush at the beginning and end of each BBQ season.
The cream colour of the passenger compartment will darken with use. Don't bother stripping it, it's just a matter of removing the few ashes and particles that remain stuck to the wall.
5. The outside I will pamper with a soft sponge, water and soap or with a product suitable for ceramics.
The colour of Kokko is resistant and should persist for several years. It's still nicer to see it, isn't it?
6. Even though the Kokko is not afraid of bad weather, if I don't use it in the winter, I will wash all the utensils, all the accessories and I will put my Kokko in a safe place.
To help him stay warm, I can also cover him with a cover! Discover our protective cover for Kokko with stainless steel trolley and cover for Kokko with wooden trolley.
