9. Suspicious mail? What is phishing

Phishing is a fraudulent technique used by computer hackers to retrieve sensitive, personal and/or confidential information (bank details, identity theft, etc.) belonging to Internet users. To do this, they reproduce the identical design of a site or communications (email) of a legitimate brand.

The most common form is still the sending of an email that appears official and whose content invites the victim to click on a link to a site that also appears official in order to communicate confidential information.

How do phishers proceed?

Phishers send emails to a very large number of Internet users whose addresses have been illegally collected or automatically composed by specific tools. These emails use the official logos and typographies of various companies such as banks, e-commerce sites or Internet service providers, and ask the Internet user to click on a hypertext link included in the message. The URL address of the link included in the email is also "hidden" in order to appear authentic.

Phishing emails are usually threatening to their victims or contain promises or guarantees.

They often contain spelling mistakes, syntax errors or incorrect information about the customer's references.

However, phishing techniques are being refined and modernised. The modus operandi does not change but the fake emails are becoming less coarse, more often written in French and with fewer mistakes.

What should you do if you receive a fraudulent email?

If it is an email from a company of which you are a customer (Verycook, bank, Treasury, EDF, etc.):

Beware of forms in an email or on a website asking for banking information.

in case of doubt, contact the company's Customer Service department to determine whether they are the official sender of the message

How can I protect myself from phishing?

As a general rule, never communicate your identifiers.

If you receive an email containing a link to an online form asking you to fill in your Personal Data (email address, Verycook password, bank details, etc.), it means that you have received a fraudulent email and that you are dealing with a fake Verycook site.

Verycook will never ask you :

to provide your bank details by e-mail,

your account password.

10. What if our policy changes?

Verycook reserves the right to modify its personal data protection policy at any time, and will publish the modified version on its Site.
