Seasonal products: what do we eat in summer?
Good news, summer has arrived! You can smell the fragrances of these good colourful vegetables, the sweet taste of these fruits that have ripened in the sun, these fresh fish just grilled on Kokko and these delicious cheeses with a strong taste... Here is the list of good summer products to put in your basket.
Summer vegetables
Pepper, tomato, aubergine, courgette, fennel: can you smell the irresistible scent of Provencal ratatouille? Also add to the menu this summer artichoke, carrots, broccoli, chard, celery stalks, porcini mushrooms, lettuce and green beans. In July/August, make room for corn, white onions and garlic, which will be replaced by cauliflower, leek, spinach, watercress, potatoes and button mushrooms from September onwards.

The fruits of summer
During the summer period, the fruits delight us throughout the day. While cherries, blackcurrants and mangoes are still available in July, blueberries, raspberries, figs, plums, grapes and melon are eaten all summer long. In July and August, apricots, watermelon, gooseberries as well as peaches, nectarines and nectarines are eaten. In August, you make room in your basket for mirabelle plums and in September for blackberries.

Summer cheeses
Summer cheeses, but what a treat! The animals, in the middle of the pasture, feed on herbs and flowers which give their milk a powerful perfume. Soft cheeses are particularly tasty in this season. One goes for Brie, Munster, Livarot, Camembert, Maroilles, Epoisses, Chaource, Langres, Pont-L'Évêque or Coulommiers. In addition to cheeses made from cow's milk, goat's milk cheeses are also particularly recommended in summer, such as Pélardon, Crottin de Chavignol, Cabécou, Chabichou du Poitou, Saint-Maure, Selles-sur-Cher or Rocamadour, or those made from sheep's milk, such as feta.
Uncooked pressed cheeses will also be on the platter as they finish their maturing process in summer. This is a good time to eat Morbier, Saint-Nectaire, Tommes, Cantal, Saint-Paulin, Raclette, Cheddar, Salers and Reblochon.
