Step 1

Light the Kokko with a single fire starter and keep the lid open for 10 to 15 minutes, with the bottom hatch fully open. The embers will turn red, but there should be no flames.

Step 2

Close the lid of the Kokko, leaving a small opening in the bottom hatch, and open the top chimney a little. A stable temperature of around 100°C is obtained.

Reaching a classic temperature

15-20 min

Step 1

Light the Kokko with 2 firelighters and keep the lid open for about 15-20 minutes with the bottom hatch fully open. The embers are red and small flames appear.

Step 2

Close the Kokko lid and open the upper chimney to reach 150°C. Once the desired temperature has been reached, close 2/3 of the bottom hatch and 2/3 of the top chimney to maintain a stable temperature.

Reaching high temperatures

20-30 min

Step 1

Light the Kokko with 3 firelighters and keep the lid open for about 20-30 minutes with the bottom hatch fully open. The embers glow and large flames appear.

Step 2

Close the Kokko lid and leave the bottom flap and top chimney fully open. Once the desired temperature has been reached, close the bottom flap and top chimney halfway.

Tips

If the temperature rises or falls too much, you can open or close the chimney at the top.

If the chimney is opened further, the temperature will rise.

If you close the chimney further, the temperature will drop.

If the Kokko does not cool down, close the bottom and top hatches to smother the fire and cool down.
