The importance of terrace maintenance
A long-lasting terrace is a well-maintained terrace. The first step is to protect it with the right products.
Starbrite offers the best solution with its Exterior Wood Protector, which will ensure that all your elements stand the test of time.
How to use Protector and Saturator
1 Precautions to be taken before applying Satin Protector
Make sure the wood has not been factory-treated with a Protector. If this is the case, wait for the Protector to wear off naturally, usually within 3-4 months. The first thing to check is that once the boards have been installed, they are clean and the wood grain is open so that the Starbrite Protector/Saturator can penetrate the wood fibres. This is the key to effective, long-lasting protection. To achieve this, clean the deck thoroughly with fresh water, using a low-pressure water jet (and especially not high-pressure!) to remove any dust embedded in the fibers. Exotic woods such as teak and Ipé, which can be very oily, quickly become saturated with dust, especially if you had to sand some of the boards during installation. If the wood has been stored for several weeks before installation, don't hesitate to use Starbrite Cleaner Degreaser for best results.
Once this operation has been completed, allow the blades to dry thoroughly.
Recommended tools :
brush for surfaces up to 30 m2. For larger surfaces, we recommend using a high-pressure cleaner (not exceeding 10-15 bar) or a single-brush machine fitted with a medium or hard brush.
2. Application of Single-Coat Protector/Saturator
Once the wood is perfectly dry, the grain open and free of any dirt or wood dust, you can apply the Protector/Saturator. A minimum of 24 hours of rain-free weather coverage is required for the Protector/Saturator to fully polymerize.
Shake or stir can well before use. Apply in small sections using a brush or roller, taking care to "pull" the Protector/Saturator through the wood, and applying as little product as possible. Long-term effectiveness depends on Starbrite Wood Protector/Saturator being properly impregnated into the wood fibres!
The Protector/Saturator should be touch-dry in about 30 minutes at an average ambient temperature of 18-20°C. If this is not the case, wipe off excess product with a clean cloth.
Apply a very thin coat of this SINGLE-COAT product. Do not attempt to saturate the wood. Do not apply in excessive heat or direct sunlight.
Recommended tools: Smooth or ridged surfaces: roller, brush, cloth.
