How do I apply the protector?
Before applying the Protector: Wait at least 8 weeks after installing new boards before applying the Protector.
After allowing new boards to stand for at least 2 months, clean them thoroughly with Starbrite® Special Composite Wood Cleaner Concentrate.
Do a trial run in a corner first to make sure the final look is right.
When Protector is applied, the tone of the composite board or slab will darken slightly to take on a "wet wood" appearance, as it would naturally after rinsing or a shower. Apply a single, very thin coat of Protector, blade by blade, using a wide brush. Allow to dry thoroughly for 1 to 2 hours, depending on ambient temperature. Full polymerization takes 24 hours.
Recommendations: If, after the first brushstrokes, spots appear and you notice that the protection isn't uniform and doesn't grip well, it's best to clean again before application. Do not apply in high heat or direct sunlight. Protector dries to the touch in about 30 minutes and fully polymerizes in 24 hours.
